Because of the nature of the Internet, it is very difficult to regulate the behavior of every user worldwide. Most online communities have evolved to the point that users regulate themselves, and penalties are applied to those who misbehave or otherwise break with the rules of that community. However, if you are the victim of e-mail harassment or other abuse, often times you'll need to do more to protect yourself.
If you believe you are the victim of e-mail harassment or other abuse, forward the message that you received (including all headers) to the Help Desk. We will contact the user's Internet Service Provider (ISP), and do our best to stop the user from continuing to send abusive e-mails. You can also contact the ISP of the person who sent you mail. Most ISPs have an e-mail address to receive abuse complaints: abuse@sampleDomain.com or abuse@sampleDomain.net (where you substitute the domain name for the ISP name, such as abuse@gru.net). If the need arises, we also suggest that you contact your local law enforcement.
