Contacting the Help Desk

When you sign up with GRU.net, help is easily accessible for any problems that you might have. The Help Desk staff can assist you whether you're using a computer with a Windows, Macintosh, or Linux operating system, and regardless of the software installed on your computer.

You can contact the Help Desk by e-mail* or by telephone at (352)334-3100 between the hours of 7AM and 11PM everyday.

If you find that you need help outside these hours, you should search the Help Desk Articles for help information located online. The articles include answers and solutions to some of the most frequent questions and problems. The goal of the Help Desk system is to help answer questions and aid the variety of support services available for your GRU.net account.

Before Contacting the Help Desk

In order to provide you with better and faster service when contacting the Help Desk, please have your username and password ready. Your username is the name you use to log on to GRU.net. This is NOT your e-mail address.

It is also much easier to provide you with assistance if you know what operating system your computer is running, i.e. Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, and Mac OS X through macOS Big Sur.

If you know what software you are using it will take less time for the Help Desk technicians to determine the problem. Knowing what software is installed on your computer also makes upgrading or obtaining a patch for your current software easier. Most operating systems display the program title at the top of the window that is opened.

Finally, please provide as much information as you can about the problem. If you received an error message, write down the entire error message, including any numbers. Try duplicating the error, and write down the steps involved in duplicating the error.

Send all of this information, including a telephone number of where you can be reached, to the Help Desk via e-mail*. If more information is required to solve your problem, the Help Desk will contact you.

GRU.net supports dual modems. This service requires an ISDN account. Please contact the Help Desk for more information (352) 334-3100. GRU.net does not support v.92 modems at this time.
